Dutch Fashion Designer Alexander van Slobbe initiated the Project Shanghai Gestures, a series of workshops in China and Amsterdam and an exhibition held at the Museum Willet-Holthuysen in Amsterdam. Part of this project was a collaboration with the Gerrit Rietveld Academie. Students of the Textile Department designed woven fabrics inspired by China and the Golden Age. These fabrics were transformed into coats by alumni students of the Fashion Department.
I designed a coat with the textile made by Sylvia Wozniak. She was inspired by the properties of porcelain. She incorporated the reflection into the fabric by using a transparent nylon thread in combination with dark mohair.
